Advancing Digital Fingerprint Capability at the IVLEA 30th Anniversary Workshop

Honoured to Present at the IVLEA 30th Anniversary Workshop in Vietnam 🇻🇳 — Advancing Digital Fingerprint Capability Across Law Enforcement

I was honoured to attend the 30th Anniversary Workshop of the International Vietnamese Law Enforcement Alliance (IVLEA) in Nha Trang, Vietnam (25–26 April 2026), as part of the broader IVLEA anniversary program across Vietnam. It was a privilege to present on the role of Forensic Comparison Software (FCS) and its contribution to the advancement of modern fingerprint examination workflows within law-enforcement communities internationally. During the workshop, I highlighted how digital fingerprint technologies are supporting agencies to:

  • Enhance latent fingerprints using advanced non-destructive image processing
  • Conduct structured side-by-side comparison and evidential note-taking workflows
  • Improve examiner efficiency and confidence through modern digital examination tools
  • Search fingerprints against operational databases using AFIS capability
  • Transition from traditional manual methods to scalable digital forensic environments

The workshop provided an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge with regional police leaders and forensic specialists, and to strengthen professional cooperation between Australia, Vietnam, and partner agencies across the region. Thank you to IVLEA for the invitation and for their ongoing contribution to international law-enforcement collaboration over the past 30 years.

Enhancing AFIS Automation with Auto-Scaling Tools

Enhancing AFIS Automation and Reducing Case Turnaround Times: Forensic Comparison Software has developed groundbreaking auto-scaling tools that automatically detect and scale evidence labels, ruler markings, circle labels, templates, and barcodes. This innovation enables precise image scaling from camera-captured evidence and fully automates latent fingerprint searches—optimizing AFIS systems for Lights-Out operations. This means faster, more accurate searches and significantly reduced case turnaround times, empowering forensic teams to work smarter, not harder.

Auto Find and Ghost Cursor for Faster Fingerprint Comparison

Autofind and Ghost Curser by FCS.

The Auto Find tool aids the Fingerprint Examiner by automatically marking a single feature in each of the known and unknown fingerprint impressions as a likely starting point in the Comparison Process. If the suggested features don’t agree the examiner then proceeds to the next best candidate as selected by the tool and then again and again as necessary. This vastly speeds up the process of case file completion by reassuring the examiner that they haven’t if fact missed that critical identification.

The Ghost Cuser helps examiners locate corresponding features on both images.

These features greatly assist the fingerprint examiners to more efficiently complete case files reducing backlogs and improving turnaround times.

Automatic FFT for Fingerprint Image Enhancement

Revolutionize your fingerprint analysis with Automatic Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), a powerful new feature in Forensic Comparison Software V7 (FCS). FFT automatically removes background patterns and noise from fingerprint images, enhancing critical details for faster and more accurate comparisons. This advanced tool seamlessly integrates into your workflow, allowing forensic professionals to reveal hidden minutiae with exceptional clarity. With FFT as part of our comprehensive image enhancement suite, FCS boosts efficiency, accuracy, and case-solving potential, empowering you to make smarter decisions and solve cases with confidence. FCS V7 to be released later this year
